ESCULIN SUPPLEMENT (0.5g/vl)

Rehydrate the content of one vial in 2 ml distilled water. Mix well and add it to 500 ml of sterile, molten, cooled (45-50?C) TM 1579 – BILE ESCULIN AGAR BASE. Mix well and sterilize the medium by autoclaving at 15 psi pressure (121?C) for 15 minutes. Mix well and pour into sterile petri plates.

For detection of group D Streptococci by means of esculin hydrolysis.
